Friendship and Wellbeing Week

Year 4 were trained as friendship mentors by Mr Bowers and came up with ideas for friendship stops around the playground where children can go should they be lonely or upset.

This half term our topic is: 1066

It's probably the most famous date in English history and this half term Year 4 are travelling back to 1066!

The Battle of Hastings remains one of the most famous battles in history and we will be finding out about what happened and when by looking at the Bayeux Tapestry.

We will also take a close look at The Normans and discover how they influence the country and changed the future of England.

The police were called in...

Year 4 had a visit from the police! This was a Q&A session were we asked the PCSO's a variety of questions about their job and what it entails. The class really found this interesting and loved trying on the police uniform.

Last half term our topic was 'Blue Abyss'.

Please take a look at some of the work we did last half term.

To infinity and... Somewhere in the middle of the school field!

A big thanks to the adults who were able to attend our family learning afternoon. Our water rockets turned out really well and delivered some surprising results.

All of Year 4 now attend Swimming on a Thursday morning. Please ensure your child brings their kit into school on that day.

Our spelling tests are on a Friday. Spelling are sent out each term and separated into blocks, with 10 words in each block.

At the end of each term we have a Super Test. This will be made up of 10 randomly selected words from the previous tests that we have taken that term.

Year 4 homework will be sent out Friday and must be returned by the following Friday.

Each week your child will be given a piece of maths and English work to complete which will consolidate what they have been learning throughout that week.

You can assist your child by:

- Helping them learn their times tables up to 12 x 12 and by timing them for 5 minutes as they fill out their laminated multiplication grid.

- Ensure that they are practicing their spellings each week for the test on Friday mornings.
